Learning How to Love Yourself Again

Sometimes, life doesn’t go according to plan.

Things happen. People leave. Circumstances change. And you feel like curling in bed all day crying.

Now, doesn’t that seem like the perfect formula to make you absolutely despise yourself? Sigh – if I could only explain to you how many times I’ve done that to myself.

But there are ways you can forgive yourself. There are ways you can learn how to love again. You know, you can be content with yourself once again – all you’ve got to do is trust yourself a tiny bit more right now.

1. Practice self-compassion

Do you know who’s the person that can be the cruelest to you?

It’s yourself. If you let it, your ego will convince you that you’re worth nothing. But don’t listen to what it has to say – win it over with self-compassion.

Be gentle towards yourself. Forgive and forget. Forgive yourself for all your past and future mistakes – and forget all the bad decisions you’ve ever made.

Don’t be harsh on yourself. You’re doing the best you can with all you’ve got – and you deserve some praise for it!

2. Change what needs changing

You know how sometimes you’re not really happy about something in your life – and that brings you down altogether?

Well – change that.

If you’re not happy about something, do everything you can to change it for the better.

Don’t let your ego convince you that you’re not worthy of change.

After all, you can’t keep doing the same things all over again and expect different results.

So see what makes you feel miserable. Plan a course of action. And then follow up that plan – every single day!

3. Meditate daily

There are 50,000 thoughts racing through our brains every single day. No wonder we feel stressed out and exhausted by the end of each day! *and yet struggle to fall asleep!*

Don’t let that number take its toll on you – meditate! My life’s changed for the better ever since I’ve started meditating daily.

Start with meditating 7-10 minutes per day. Trust me, it’s enough to see the difference. Find someplace quiet, sit down – and start taking deep breaths.

Oh, and stick to it. I know it’s hard in the beginning but give it a few weeks – it’ll become one of the best habits you’ve ever adopted.

4. Use affirmations

What you hear is what you believe.

If you keep saying to yourself that you’re a loser, it’s a matter of time before your subconscious starts believing it.

Reprogram your mind. Visualize a stronger you. Use affirmations to practice self-love & gratitude with yourself.

Here’s a list of positive affirmations to help you out:

  • I love myself and everything I do for me.

  • I have everything I need to be happy. I can make myself happy.

  • I am deserving of happiness, wealth, and prosperity.

  • I love myself unconditionally.

  • My life grows bigger every day. (my favorite!)

5. Take care of your body

Once you start taking care of your body, something wonderful happens – you’re more motivated to take care of your mind as well.

Drink plenty of water. Eat nutritious foods – but drop the guilt if you eat something that’s deemed unhealthy. It’s okay to eat a cookie sometime.

Do yoga and stretch. Go for a run – or take a workout class. Don’t hit the gym to reach a size four. Go to the gym to be strong, happy – and healthy.

6. Be your own best friend

Drop the criticism – find ways to be your own best friend. You don’t criticize your friends every day, do you?

Each morning, look at yourself in the mirror. Smile and nod to the face watching you. What do you see there? Which parts of you do you like the most? What are you thankful for?

Spend time with yourself. Take yourself out to dinner – and maybe even trips. Love being on your own – and let yourself fall in love with you once again.

7. Develop confidence by relying on your intuition

Have you noticed how sometimes, you know you know something? Well, that’s your gut talking!

Your intuition isn’t only wonderful because it’s taking you places where you’re meant to be. Your intuition is wonderful because you can use it as a tool to develop your confidence – and grow your self-esteem.

The more developed your intuition is, the more you’re certain of yourself.

I like to say that my intuition is my superpower. And it can easily become yours too!
